Sandaya: Driving Growth with Real-Time Data Insights
Crystalloids' InsightOS solution empowered Sandaya with real-time data insights, propelling streamlined decision-making and growth for their luxury camping group in Spain and France.
The Goal
To address their need for real-time insights into their campsite portfolio trends, Sandaya sought an automated and personalized dashboard solution. Crystalloids stepped in to create a custom analyzing tool based on InsightOS, an intuitive application developed with Google App Engine and Google BigQuery.
The Challenge
As Sandaya experienced exponential growth over the past seven years, the expansion of campsites and an increasing influx of visitors resulted in a massive surge of data, posing significant challenges in data management and hindering marketers and analysts from gaining quick and clear insights. The data was scattered across multiple applications, requiring time-consuming processes of moving it from various sources, including on-premise locations, into spreadsheets and back to analyzing tools, taking days to complete. Moreover, the existing tools at Sandaya's disposal were ill-suited for the travel business, making it difficult to obtain the precise insights they sought.
Seeking an effective solution, Sandaya aimed to create an automated and user-friendly dashboard that could provide valuable insights into trends related to their campsite portfolio. The key requirements included swift sorting, filtering, and comparison of data based on specific travel characteristics, such as arrival date, country origin, accommodation type, region, campsite, and other critical dimensions and metrics. In addition, they sought a cloud-based solution to reduce internal infrastructure maintenance costs and facilitate rapid scaling.
In response to Sandaya's challenges, Crystalloids devised a custom solution InsightOS - an intuitive application developed using Google App Engine and Google BigQuery, tailored to assist travel companies in leveraging data for revenue improvement. InsightOS streamlined data storage, analysis, and processing, featuring the functionality to save and share specific views, graphs, or tables among colleagues.
To accommodate the unique needs of the travel industry, two separate InsightOS viewer applications were designed - the Arrival Viewer and the Booking Viewer - effectively handling the distinction between arrival and booking time units, providing seamless insights for Sandaya's data-driven decision-making.

Arrival and Booking Viewer Applications
Recognizing the unique requirements of the travel industry, Crystalloids created two distinct InsightOS viewer applications - the Arrival Viewer and the Booking Viewer.
The Arrival Viewer enables Sandaya to link various data sets, including customer, media, and sales, to arrival dates. Through facet navigation, future and past arrival dates can be selected, providing marketers and analysts with comprehensive insights into customer behavior.
The Booking Viewer, on the other hand, allows Sandaya to associate different datasets, such as destination, customer, sales, and media channels, with booking dates. The intuitive calendar element facilitates the comparison of past and present booking periods, with the ability to save selections for future reference.
The Result
The InsightOS viewers allow Sandaya to gain the insights they need without any technical knowledge. The platform gives their employees the ability to expand the campsite empire fast because there is no need to buy more hardware to store all the extra data that comes with their growth. The implementation of the InsightOS platform led to Sandaya's successful opening of 5 new campsites in 2017.
About Sandaya
With 14 different luxurious (4 & 5 stars) campings throughout Spain and France, the Sandaya group is a successful campsite owner and operator which welcomes thousands of guests every year. The group was founded in 2010 by François Georges and Xavier Guilbert. Since then, the Sandaya group has been expanding rapidly, this year (2017) they opened five brand new campings, and more will follow in the future.
The Sandaya campings receive a lot of guests every year and offer at least 300 pitches per campsite. They have a range of different accommodation types like cottages, chalets, lodges, and cabins. In high season, Sandaya has up to 500 employees to keep everything running. Sandaya saw its quality policy rewarded by reputable and recognised labels such as Best Camping, Trip Advisor, Zoover as well as Green Key.
